Famous faces walk the cancer research red carpet- 2010

The Canberra Cancerians announced the 2010 Gala Ball theme at their annual mid-May cocktail party at the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra. The theme was declared ‘Famous Couples’, and so the buzz began. The Famous Couples Gala Ball was a huge success with $300,000 donated to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation. The event was held in the Great Hall, Parliament House and funds were raised through ticket sales together with a silent auction that was held on the night.

Jill SunderlandSadly Jill Sunderland lost her long and brave battle with lung cancer on May 15, 2007. Jill was a wonderful person, and an inspiration, who throughout her illness, worked tirelessly to raise money for cancer research with the Canberra Cancerians Committee.

Jill, who leaves behind her husband Ken, six children and a new granddaughter, will be sadly missed by the many, many people who were fortunate enough to meet her and work with her during a very generous and giving life.
