A big BBQ for a special little boy Posted on August 23, 2012February 28, 2018 by Carly du Toit On the 12th August, Rocks Riverside Park was overtaken with family and friends excited for a fun day supporting cancer research on behalf of a brave boy named Joshua. The Bates and Goodhew families decided to organise a BBQ fundraiser in their local park to support a cause close to their hearts with little Joshua suffering from a neuroblastoma that requires chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Many cancer charity foundations have touched the lives of this family during Joshua’s illness, but they chose to support cancer research knowing that funding research is the key to a cure. In only a few days the family had already raised thousands of dollars in support of their cause and had people lining up to take part in the events on the day. It was decided that family members and friends would have the opportunity to shave their heads or colour their hair on the day to raise further funds.
