The exuberant India Trek Challenge crew visited Tibetan and Indian communities as part of the 2010 Inspired Adventures Charity Challenge trip to raise funds for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF).
The crew is made up of six wonderful ladies, Olwen Bradford-Cowling, Bonnie Mulholland, Amy Fraser, Michelle McNamara, Lynda Klompmaker and Nikita Hodgson, who have over the past 12 months tirelessly dedicated their time and efforts to raise money for ACRF.
Over $20,000 has been raised by the fundraising team thus far!
What a great effort from the group and their supporters. Special thanks also to Nikita Hodgson and Carol Simpson who are part of the fundraising team but were unfortunately unable to go on the trip in the end.
No stranger to the Inspired Adventures program, team organiser Olwen Bradford-Cowling, says the sad passing of her mother to cancer is her main inspiration for the fundraising challenge.
“There isn’t going to be a cure for cancer tomorrow, there is still a long way to go in the research field, so while I am still fit enough to undertake such challenges I will continue to support ACRF,” said Mrs Bradford-Cowling.
Over 14 days the India Trek team visited the home of the exiled Tibetan Government, meet with some Tibetan locals and visit a Children’s Village which supports more than 14,000 refugee Tibetan children.
Other trip highlights include trekking through the stunning Indian Himalayas and further exploring the vibrant Dharmsala, home of the Dalai Lama.
